In times of global warming, pollution and scarci ty of resources it becomes crucial for architectural praxis to adapt to earths needs and changes. The concept of slow tourism opens up the ability to travel for recreational reasons and decelerate within a reasonable range. This project considers the archetype of the hut as the reduction of living to its essential meaning without exceeding its necessi ty. „Away at Home“ offers a strategy which emphasizes the local cultural exchange. Pla ced close to the Ederstausee it shows the specifics given by the site and also engages its visitors with the physical sur rounding as the lake, the trees and the soil but also with its unique history embedded into the ground of the lake.
